In association with SwissPSA, the Speck Flying School is a so-called ATO (Approved Training Organization). Pilot training is carried out in accordance with EASA (European Union Safety Agency) guidelines and has been certified by the FOCA (Federal Office of Civil Aviation). The corresponding syllabus covers the following key areas:
Level 1 - Basics
Level 2 - Standard procedure in the square area
Level 3 - Exceptional situations
Level 4 - VFR navigation
Lebel 5 - Consolidation of what has been learned
Level 6 - Exceptional situations
Level 7 - Cross-country flights incl. SOLO
Level 8 - Situation flying according to instruments
Level 9 - Radio navigation
Level 10 - Consolidation phase
Level 1 is all about learning the absolute basics. The so-called «Four Fundamentals», climb, level flight, descent and turns form the basis for everything that follows and it is therefore extremely important to pay particular attention to this stage.
Flight program
After learning and practicing the «Four Fundamentals» in level 1, the focus in level 2 is now on standard procedures in the field area. The main focus here is on take-off, landing and go-around procedures, as well as ground procedures, airfield geography and aeronautical radio in aerodrome traffic.
Flight program
The first solo flight is slowly approaching. To ensure that you are prepared for unusual situations during these first solo flights, you will learn about the most important dangerous situations in level 3, and above all the countermeasures. The focus here is on engine failure in the space area. Slow flight, stall and the failure of individual important instruments are also covered. One lesson in this level is dedicated to «botched» approaches. It deals with flight path correction for approaches that are too high or too low.
Flight program
This level deals with the introduction to VFR navigation. It is mainly about how to fly from one airfield to another airfield, how to approach an external airfield correctly and how to behave tactically in the mountains.
Flight program
The main topic in this stage is the consolidation of what you have learned so far and - finally - the first solo flights!
Flight program
As mentioned in level 3, we return here to the topic of «Exceptional situations and emergencies». Here, knowledge of the aerodynamic limits is expanded and trained. The main focus at this level is again on engine failure. This time, however, outside the airfield area!
Flight program
In level 7, the topics of level 4 are taken up again and deepened. SOLO navigation flights are now added. These SOLO navigation flights should take place at airfields that the student pilot is already familiar with.
Flight program
This stage is again dedicated to attitude flying. In other words, the same as in level 1 with the difference that now the reference is no longer external, but is moved to the artificial horizon (Attitude Indicator) - yes, that's right, you practice how to fly using only the instruments without external references. With the training completed at this level, the pilot is neither qualified nor authorized to perform flights exclusively according to instrument indications. This requires further training for the instrument flight extension (IFR).
Flight program
Radio navigation, i.e. navigating with the aid of radio beacons (VOR), and in future also GPS navigation are topics at this level.
Flight program
Off to the final spurt! Stage 10 is the consolidation phase of what you have learned and is designed to prepare you optimally for the exam. Here, the last uncertainties can be cleared up and the focus can be placed on exam training and any remaining weak points.
